Monday, 18 April, 1839.
His Excellency The Governor desired it to be recorded in the minutes that Mr. Green, the Chief Justice, in his application for leave, had pointed out all the arrangements made by Mr. Kingsmill for the discharge of his judicial duties during his absence.
The Honorable The Lieutenant Governor reported that the result of his interview with Dr. Bridges was to the effect that he distinctly declined to hold either of the acting appointments of Chief Justice or Attorney General.
Whereupon, it was moved by The Lieutenant Governor, seconded by the Colonial Secretary, and carried unanimously, that Mr. Kingsmill be appointed to succeed Mr. Green in the office of Acting Attorney General, pending the approval of Her Majesty's Government, or until some further arrangement should be made.
